About me

Hello! Im Kristy the mixed media artist and colour lover behind the scenes here at Arch & Aya. :D

I live in a small town on the Mid North Coast, NSW with my partner, our two babes and our furbaby.

I’m your typical colourful, quirky and weird Art Teacher but I’m super proud of that. I think embracing your weird is so much more fun anyway!

I live and breathe art in all its forms and wouldn’t feel right if I wasn’t making something everyday. I love to paint with watercolours, read fantasy novels, wear bold abstract prints and love anything with a kitschy, nostalgic Australiana twist.

I also love to teach High School kids how to embrace their own weird selves and how to express their creativity too. For me, my most fave part of being an artist is working on amazing collaborative projects, building genuine friendships with other makers and being able to send my artworks out into the world to bring a little happiness to others.

I am a qualified Secondary Visual Arts Teacher with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Art history/Painting) from the University of Newcastle. I have exhibited around NSW in various galleries, worked on a number of community art based projects and even spent some time as a tour guide at a Regional Art Gallery.

I have been sewing since I was a teenager and picked it back up when I was pregnant with Archie.
All my clothes are made from patterns and fabric prints my little ones and I test out and wear ourselves.

My surface pattern designs are also available to licence or trade so please get in contact if you are a business and would love something commissioned.
